Change your future past now
Had a thought. Finally.
I got out of high school some years ago. As everyone, I have regrets and painful memories. Also a lot of "ugh, was I really like that?". And of course, I sometimes think - just before going to bed, that if I could go back and fix everything, I would. How much better I would do things around now. Is this why isekai is so popular?
Nevertheless, what if I just waste my second chance anyway? What if I got back to high school, by magic or something whatever, with all the things I know now. What if I just waste that chance in another regretful way?
I can figure out now.
*heavy use of the second person self talk forward on. You are not being spoken to explicitly
** Also, english is not my first lang so sorry if this sounds weird
Imagine yourself as a plot right now. As a plot, you have a math function that defines your trajectory. You are currently at a determined point in that plot. You can modify the plot that is beyond your current point, but you can't change the already past plot.
Can you imagine, from the point you are right now, what the future has for you? Of course you can! It's not 100% accurate, or maybe not even half accurate if you are prone to anxiety problems, but you can picture the future plot somewhat. Well, go that path. Travel into the future and follow that imaginary plot. What happens? Do you have regrets? Did a great tragedy happened?
Well, now travel back to the past. To the present. Done! You traveled back in time! Do you take action to fix the current timeline? No? Then you would have wasted that second chance at high school.
At least I did. Sadly. I'm not the kind of person now that would have fixed meaningfully my time there. Sorry, past me.
But hey, at least I got my second chance right now to fix the current timeline. I don't think I'm strong enough to fix everything, but at least I have to try and do things better.
